HONK Families Need Your Help!

Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK) helps low-income families and individuals in Campbell, Kenton & Boone Counties by providing affordable housing. Eighty-three of our households have become homeowners through our affordable lease-to-own program.

We are currently serving 34 households in homes that HONK has built or rehabbed.

Though a few of our households are renters, the vast majority are in our lease-to-own program and on the path to homeownership. Most are minority families with children earning an average of 60-65% of the area median income.

Each HONK family has worked hard to get into their home. They now need help keeping it.

Every day we are hearing from more HONK families struggling with employment. In one household, both working adults have lost their jobs. Several of our families are self-employed, out of work and struggling to make ends meet. For those that have managed to retain their jobs, they are having to choose between earning an income and risking their health, and the health of their families.

All are in desperate need of help. And in the weeks ahead, these needs will continue to grow.

We don’t know the full impact COVID-19 will have on HONK or the families we serve. We do know that our families won’t be able to survive this alone. The need is urgent.

We are asking for your help in creating an Emergency Fund to assist HONK families through this crisis with their monthly house payment and other emerging needs.

House payments are made to HONK at the first of the month. Most are wondering how they are going to make their next payment. Your support will help HONK families keep their home and weather the storm. For those in our lease-to-own program, your support will also help them stay on track with their goal of homeownership.

Our goal is to raise $20,000, which would cover almost exactly one month of payments for each of our 34 households.

Since your support would ultimately ensure continued income to HONK, it will also help the organization weather the storm, so we can continue our mission into the future.

We need you to give today! Every day and every dollar counts.
